About Karthik

Karthik Dechiraju is a software engineer and avid film fan who built Matinee after becoming frustrated with the fragmented state of movie and TV tracking tools. He found that existing apps either focused only on movies and ignored TV shows, or were so film-critic-focused that they forgot about the casual viewer who just wants to remember what they watched last week with their friends.

The idea for Matinee came from a simple desire: build the tracker he wished existed — one that handles both movies and TV, shows you where things are streaming right now, and makes it genuinely fun to share recommendations with the people you watch with.
